Andrea Ciceri
Appears on:Graduated in Literature from the University of Milan, in jazz saxophone with full marks at the International Music Academy Claudio Abbado of Milan under the guidance of Giulio Visibelli and afterwards, graduated with honors and special mention at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan with Tino Tracanna, Andrea Ciceri is an eclectic musician with numerous and stable collaborations in various musical formations and repertoires. He studied with Marco Vaggi, Gabriele Comeglio, Pino Jodice, Attilio Zanchi, Riccardo Luppi, and participated in seminars and workshops, including those with Steven Bernstein, Larry Schneider, and David Liebman.
In the orchestral field, Andrea Ciceri began his career with the Civica Jazz Band conducted by Enrico Intra. He collaborates with Big Bands performing more traditional repertoire, such as the Swing Jazz Band directed by Paolo Tomelleri, the New Talents Orchestra and the Company Big Band conducted by Gabriele Comeglio, and the Monday Orchestra conducted by Luca Missiti, of which he is a permanent member. He also collaborates with more authorial orchestras, such as the VerdiJazzOrchestra and the OrchestraNazionaleJazz conducted by Pino Jodice and Paolo Silvestri, AREA M orchestra, conducted by Corrado Guarino, Alberto Mandarini, and Giovanni Agostino Frassetto, the Dino Betti Vandernoot Orchestra of Dino Betti Vandernoot, and the young Monique Chao Orchestra conducted by Monique Chao. He is a permanent member of these two formations, as well as the award-winning and more experimental Artchipel Orchestra, conducted by Ferdinando Faraò. With most of these groups, he performs alongside the most important artists of the Italian jazz scene, including Enrico Rava, Fabrizio Bosso, Rosario Giuliani, Emanuele Cisi, Franco Ambrosetti, Franco Cerri, Emilio Soana, Alberto Mandarini, Paolo Fresu, Fabio Morgera, Robert Bonisolo.
He has also collaborated on several productions with the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra.
In the field of collective and small groups, he is a member of formations revolving around Daniele Cavallanti and Tiziano Tononi (in the Homecoming Quartet), he collaborates with musicians from the MILANO MUSIC COLLECTIVE and with some of Francesco Chiapperini’s projects.
With most of these formations, he has released several albums and contributed to numerous live concerts at various festivals and music events, including Novara Jazz, Jazz al Piccolo Teatro, Ritmo delle Città, MITO September Music, MITO fringe, Ah Um Jazz Festival, Jazz on the Road, Area M, Iseo Jazz, Jazz Italiano per l’Aquila, Bollate Jazz Festival, Lecco Jazz Festival, Jazz Italiano per Amatrice, Salina Jazz Festival, TrentinoInJazz, Festival dei 2 Mondi di Spoleto, Estate Sforzesca, JAZZMI, UMBRIA JAZZ, Torino Jazz Festival, JAZZ VISIONS, Piazza Verdi RAI RADIO TRE, Bergamo Jazz Festival, and others.
In the Andrea Ciceri Esatomic project, with the album Fisse, Andrea Ciceri presents himself as the leader and composer.
