Kubri

Appears on:

The project was initially born in 2016 as an experiment on improvisation and has solidified as Kubri in 2018.
The band Is based in Piacenza (North of Italy). Kubri means “bridge” in Arabic.
Their music, like a bridge, connects many genres such as psychedelia, jazz, folk, (post)rock, avant-garde, without ever being fully part of them.
From the very beginning, they pushed themselves to experiment with their instruments what they never played before leaving space to the pause and the silences as part of the music.
In Novembre 2019 they had the opportunity to record a live studio session with the New York drummer Rudy Royston (Bill Frisell trio) and that became their first album.
All 4 musicians have been active in the Piacenza music scene since the early 90s with various projects.
The band’s influences are many, from the classic jazz of Davis, Mingus, Ellington to name a few to the free of Naked City and Lounge Lizard to the new of Jakob Bro and Nels Cline, to the psychedelia and minimalism of Terry Riley and Tony Conrad to the wave of the 80s, Nick Cave and the Dirty Three to the folk and USA, American indie rock of the 80/90s.
