Massimiliano Dosoli
Appears on:Massimiliano Dosoli was born on 28 September 1991 in Ostiglia (Mantua), a small village lost in the mists of the Po Valley.
He first became passionate about drawing, then around the age of thirteen he took up the electric guitar and around the age of twenty he fell in love with the clarinet.
He first studied clarinet at Siena Jazz with Achille Succi and Mirco Mariottini, improvisation with Stefano Battaglia and Maurizio Giammarco among others.
In 2017 he moved to Rotterdam where he studied Jazz Composition at Codarts with Paul v. Brugge.
Among his projects we can mention:
-The Superposthardbop quintet with whom he opened the concert of Kurt Rosenwinkel and Omar Hakim in Cala Gonone jazz in 2018.
-The punk jazz trio Amaguk, whose latest record ‘Spiritual Punk Manifesto’ was recently released.
– the Plankton Orchestra, a large ensemble of improvisers founded by Massimiliano in 2019 and which had Yamandu Costa as a guest in a couple of videos in 2021.
– the trio The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance. With whom he is about to release the record ‘Fleca’ for AUT records.
Among other collaborations he has played with Reinier Baas, Bang on a Can ensemble, De Doelen ensemble. And as a composer he collaborated with the Amsterdam Opera and Ballet, writing the music for the opera ‘The Return’ in 2021.
Lately Massimiliano lives between the Netherlands where he plays and teaches and Greece where he is studying the Greek clarinet with Alexandros Arkadopolous and has several collaborations with the Athens free scene.
