Oscar Descamps
Appears on:Oscar was born in Papeete, French Polynesia, where he began his musical education with traditional Tahitian percussions. He has been living in mainland Francesince 2017 to further his musical and artistic studies, first at the École Supérieure de Musique et de Danse (ESMD) in Lille, and then at the arts school in Tourcoing.
In 2021, he accompanied the singer Ayo on a tour in French Polynesia. In France, he joined the band Kandi Rüh as a drummer and graphic designer, a French “Rock in Opposition” (RIO) project based in Lille.
He is also a multi-instrumentalist for “La Récrée” (percussion, drums, guitar, and ukulele), an original song trio with singer Eleonore Courtillon and bassist Jules Billé.
At the fine arts school, he develops a plastic, sculptural, and performative reflection on the links between music and contemporary art. He confronts his “mixed” creations with the perspectives of exhibition spaces as well as the listening and diffusion environments.
