Sergio Bolognesi
Appears on:Sergio Bolognesi was born in Pisa on June 27, 1994. A member of a large family (eleven elements), in his childhood period he had no shortage of creative stimuli: piano, guitar, violin, computer music and, of course, drums.
Interested in studies of sound manipulation and acoustics, he specialized with a course for Sound Technician, embarking on a career in the Piedmont and Tuscany area. Having laid these foundations, he decided to deepen his studies of improvised music, this time acoustic, attending the Jazz Drumming course at Siena Jazz University (graduated with 110 cum laude). He is currently finishing his academic course at the Conservatorio B. Marcello in Venice.
Among his most influential teachers we find Jim Black, Ziv Ravitz, Alessandro Paternesi, Fabrizio Sferra, Joe Sanders, Stefano Battaglia.
Since 2018 he has been a member of the Young Shouts quartet led by Silvia Bolognesi (no relation), winner in 2020 of the New Generation Jazz award established by I-Jazz and with two records under their belt. The first of these (aLive Shouts, 2019) is recognized by Bandcamp as one of the best recordings in jazz in August 2019.
Other stable ensembles in which we find him on drums and/or electronics are: Fonterossa Open Orchestra, Mr. Noe, Glauco LoFi.
In addition to playing in the most renowned Italian jazz festivals with the aforementioned ensembles, he has some concerts in sight that will take him overseas in the fall of 2023, among them the Chicago Jazz Festival.
