Valentina Fin
Appears on:Valentina Fin is an Italian jazz singer and composer based in Vicenza. She debuted with the quintet RAME, with which she recorded two albums. As an ensemble leader she released TUMIZA in trio formation, a record dedicated to Norma Winstone, and KURT! with piano and string quartet accompaniment. Valentina works with contemporary jazz music, focussing in particular on extemporaneous improvisation and poetry in music; she also delves into baroque repertories, and performs regularly in festivals, both in Italy and abroad. Valentina won the Veneto Jazz’s Tomorrow’s Jazz award in late 2021 and was awarded second prize at Riga Jazz Stage 2022. Thanks to the two prizes, she did a European tour with her music in summer 2022, playing in Tallinn (XX Festival Visioon) with 3 Estonian musicians in residence, in Riga (Rigas Ritmi Festival) with the American young drummer Domo Branch, in Venice (Women for freedom in jazz) and in L’Aquila (Il Jazz Italiano per le terre del sisma). In February 2023, she will move to Netherlands’, Rotterdam, for an exchange with Codarts Music school. In 2020 she co-founded BacĂ n, an association that organises an artistic residency programme for jazz musicians on a European scale. In 2022 she was selected for Sewem – Sino-European Women Entrepreneurs in Music- a European Union mentorship programme for young female entrepreneurs and musicians in the music world.
