Description

Kubri is a Piacenza-based band (North Italy) that emerged in 2016 as an experimental improvisation project before solidifying its identity in 2018. The name Kubri, meaning “bridge” in Arabic, reflects the band’s mission of connecting diverse genres such as psychedelia, jazz, folk, post-rock, and avant-garde without fully belonging to any of them.

From the beginning, Kubri has embraced experimentation, challenging themselves to explore unfamiliar territories on their instruments while allowing pauses and silences to become integral parts of their compositions. In November 2019, they recorded a live studio session with New York drummer Rudy Royston (Bill Frisell Trio), resulting in their debut album, which captures their creative process’s spontaneous and intuitive nature.
