Description

We are pleased to present the first album by Oscar and Jérôme Descamps, an extraordinary father-son duo from Tahiti, Polynesia. This remarkable project consists of fifteen improvised instrumental pieces, offering a rich and compelling exploration of their shared musical journey.

The duo’s unusual instrumentation—trombone, drums, and occasional cello— creates a captivating dialogue, blending their diverse artistic influences and personal experiences. Their music transports listeners from the vibrant streets of Istanbul to imagined, dreamlike landscapes, all while capturing the essence of their profound connection as father and son.

Oscar Descamps, a talented drummer and percussionist, developed his craft at the Conservatoire de Papeete and the E.S.M.D. of Lille before pursuing visual arts at the Beaux-Arts of Tourcoing. Currently based in Tahiti, he brought this project to life alongside his father in a state-of-the-art studio on the island’s peninsula, inspired by his Polynesian surroundings.

Jérôme Descamps, an accomplished trombonist, transitioned from a classical career to free jazz and improvised music, collaborating with groups such as La Marmite Infernale, Trio Bomonstre, and Elton Dean. He is also active as a hospital musician and a trombone teacher at the Conservatoire of Papeete, combining his artistry with meaningful social engagement.

This debut album is a testament to their shared creativity and unique artistic vision. It is expertly mixed by Patrick Guerlain and mastered by Jérôme nîm Trachet, ensuring every detail of this captivating work is brought to life.
